The Story Behind the Collaboration

Some furniture collections begin with a trend. This one began with a search.

For more than 17 years, Kristen Hancock, founder and Director of Interior Design at Guided Home Design, has designed homes centered around timeless materials, thoughtful proportions, and spaces that feel as beautiful as they are livable. Yet while sourcing furniture for both her clients and her own home, she repeatedly encountered the same challenge: the pieces she envisioned simply didn't exist.

She wanted furniture with more shape. More texture. More presence. Pieces that felt sculptural yet inviting, architectural yet warm. Furniture that could anchor a room through thoughtful design rather than unnecessary ornament.

Instead of continuing to search, she decided to create it.

Rooted in Craftsmanship

To bring that vision to life, Kristen partnered with renowned furniture designer and manufacturer Rene Cazares, whose reputation has been built on exceptional craftsmanship, precision, and decades of experience designing and producing luxury furnishings.

The collaboration united two complementary perspectives.

Kristen approached each design through the lens of an interior designer, considering how every piece would live within a home and contribute to the overall feeling of a space. Rene brought more than 30 years of furniture design and manufacturing expertise, ensuring every concept could be executed with the highest level of quality and craftsmanship.

Together, they created a collection that feels both refined and deeply livable.

Designed With Intention

Every line, curve, proportion, finish, and fabric was carefully evaluated throughout the design process.

Sketches evolved into prototypes. Materials were tested. Silhouettes were refined. Seat heights, comfort, scale, and construction were revisited through multiple iterations until every piece reflected the original vision.

Nothing was chosen simply because it was beautiful.

Each decision was made because it contributed to the way the furniture feels, functions, and lives within a space.

That level of intention defines every piece in the collection.

More Shape. More Texture. More Presence.

At the heart of the collection is a desire to bring warmth back into the home.

Furniture has become increasingly minimal over the years, often sacrificing comfort and character in pursuit of simplicity. The Kristen Hancock x Rene Cazares Collection offers a different perspective.

Soft sculptural forms introduce movement without feeling overdesigned. Architectural silhouettes create structure while maintaining an inviting sense of comfort. Rich materials, including oak, boucle, vintage leather, micro-cement, and layered textiles, add depth and dimension throughout the collection.

The result is furniture that feels grounded, timeless, and quietly confident.

Designed to Build a Home Around

Rather than creating individual statement pieces, the collection was designed as a cohesive language.

Dining chairs balance sculptural softness with architectural structure. Beds create an enveloping sense of comfort while maintaining strong, grounded silhouettes. Nightstands, benches, and bedding introduce texture, proportion, and thoughtful layering that complete the room without competing for attention.

Each piece is designed to stand beautifully on its own while contributing to a home that feels collected over time.

The Beginning of an Ongoing Collection

The Kristen Hancock x Rene Cazares Collection marks the first chapter of an ongoing collaboration, with additional pieces planned to be released throughout the year.

More importantly, these are the very pieces Kristen intends to specify in Guided Home Design projects, incorporate into her own home, and now share with homeowners who value thoughtful design and enduring craftsmanship.

This collection was never about creating more furniture.

It was about creating the pieces they had been searching for all along.

The Story

The collection draws inspiration from the natural beauty of the desert, where sculptural landscapes, weathered textures, and organic forms shaped the design of each piece. From the names to the materials and silhouettes, every detail reflects a quiet appreciation for warmth, permanence, and the beauty found in nature.

The Craftmanship

Every piece is handcrafted in Los Angeles by the Rene Cazares team using carefully selected materials and time-honored furniture-making techniques. Through multiple rounds of prototyping and refinement, each design was thoughtfully engineered to achieve the perfect balance of comfort, proportion, and lasting quality.

Just the Beginning

The KH x RC Collection is designed to evolve over time. New pieces are already in development, with the next chapter of the collection debuting at the Fall 2026 Market. As the collaboration grows, each release will continue to build upon the same sculptural forms, rich materiality, and timeless design language that define the inaugural collection.
